Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…and a six pence for her shoe.
Precious memories of my granddad. When I married, his health prevented him from coming to my wedding halfway across the country. But for each of my younger sisters’ weddings he provided a six pence for their shoes. Shortly after his death, I went with my mom to visit my grandparents’ home. Sorting through his things, she discovered a six pence carefully sealed in a tiny ziplock baggie and labeled, “Abby.” It made my heart sing!
