Yes, very wise advice ! Taking on too much will make us crazy. We are told in the Bible : “When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us : love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”. Self-control is different to Total-control and it’s as much about NOT needing to do things as it is about doing them. As you say, we need to let God control our lives with his plans. He will laugh at our own plans. The old enemy will stack things up to keep us bogged down if we’re not extremely careful. God gives us spiritual and physical gifts, time and money. The self-control is all about making good use of what we have been given. The other danger is trying to take on too many of other people’s problems. Of course we must help people but we cannot afford to own their problems. A Polish proverb teaches us to recognise a situation where we are being pulled too deep into someone else’s dramas, by saying : “Not my circus, not my monkeys” !
Loved this one! “The Pressure’s Off” has been a great book so far, I’m still working through it slowly, digesting it.
Control is something it will probably take me a lifetime to try to give up, but that is the daily challenge, let go of control, choose freedom, live in each moment God gives because you never know how many more that will/won’t be…

Thank you, David! I love your wisdom and I’ve learned so of this from your letters of encouragement! 🙂
