Let Jesus Get That Piano Off Your Back

I am honored to write for Proverbs31woman.org. I hope you enjoy this post!

Proverbs 31 Woman

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

  1. A very good piece, thanks ! By coincidence, the story of the woman in Luke 13 was read in our church last Sunday morning and was the subject of the sermon. Jesus was criticised for helping her on the sabbath but, as usual, he had a good reply for his critics. Interestingly, Fr Alec said he could see the side of the synagogue leader in respecting the sabbath. Sunday is a gift from God and (in my words) should be seen as a “right” rather than an “obligation”. However, who can argue against it being a marvelous day to be set free from a heavy burden ? There is time to let the ox and ass wander down to the river to drink and time to release the woman from the evil that was crushing her for so many years. We have to recognise our own spiritual battles and pray to be released. However, that release can only come if we allow it to happen to us.
It reminds me of your own words of wisdom that I found many years ago when emerging from a very difficult time (with your analogy, carrying a Steinway Grand). You said : “Sometimes it takes pain for us to hear the already God-given permission to rest”. That’s the time to let go and let God get to work.

    Haveth a nice day 🙂

    1. David! So good to hear from you. You have reminded me a couple times that I said that once, and each time, it’s exactly when I need to hear it again. How good God is!!
      How are you doing?

      1. Yes, I can never forget those words. Also, CS Lewis said : “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world”

We’re both fine thanks, enjoying life, aviating, windsurfing, growing olives, praying for peace

It must be exciting for you to be adding another member to your family !

        all the very best
